Landmines vs. Wood Choppers
« on: April 18, 2012, 09:05:13 AM »
Hello Dangerously Hardcore Community,

My friend and I just recently started following the Shockwave Protocol over the past couple of weeks and have a quick question. What is the main difference between land mines and wood choppers since Kiefer recommends both? And if you guys have any tips or cues to focus on while performing these, I would be greatly appreciated if you could share your experiences with them.

And just in case someone asks, yes I have watched the Youtube videos on both exercises on Kiefer's channel. Just wanted to get real life feedback from people who have experience performing them.

Thanks in advance  :)

I do both, and the landmines would seem the same yes but it's down with lower motion, while wood choppers are done in the higher motion. At least that's how I do it.

Thanks for the speedy reply Tex! One other question, do you flex your abs through the entire set? Just want to make sure I am performing them correctly because I hate wasting time in the gym.

Oh yes, it is a very good idea to flex them. That's what I do each time I perform any ab/core movement.

Make sure you keep good posture throughout the movement as well so you avoid injury.
If you don't take care of your body, where are you going to live?

Here is the landmine:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nk7RksvqGQs you don't need that fixture he sticks the bar in.

Here is the woodchopper:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=guSRu2fEhlA  This can actually be done with the carble set at several heights.

Personally, I like landmines much better and think they are more difficult and generally just better.  To each his own
